Coates Design Architects is seeking an interior design associate with 1-5 years of experience to join a collaborative, award-winning firm located on Bainbridge Island.  We are looking for enthusiastic self-starters, with an eye for modern design and a willingness to learn.  Our current projects include custom residential homes, healthcare facilities, education projects, and government facilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from a CIDA-accredited interior design program, or architectural professional degree from an NAAB accredited university preferred.
  1-5 years of experience in a design or architecture firm.
   Proficiency in SketchUp, Revit, and AutoCAD; more than 2 years of training/experience preferred.
  Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, InDesign, etc).
  Familiarity with Enscape, Lumion and other rendering and VR platforms.
  Experience with MS Office and related programs.
  The ability to independently produce interior design deliverables including: interior elevations, furniture and finish floor plans, design intent renderings and related schedules.

Desired Qualifications:
  Qualified or in-progress to take the NCIDQ Examination for Professional Certification.
  LEED BD+C Accredited Professional.
  Design experience in high-end custom residential and commercial construction.

Position Overview
We are seeking a Sr. Interior Designer to strategize and collaborate with team members to develop high-quality, innovative interior design solutions for a wide variety of clients and project types. You will complete full interior design packages from programming and space planning to construction documents and construction administration.

Responsibilities
– Provide leadership throughout the design process for a variety of complex projects
– Complete a full design package from visioning, programming and space planning to construction and CA.
– Develop timetable for construction document production and delivery
– Conduct client interviews to determine space needs and requirements
– Lead client and internal project visioning and meetings
– Develop innovative design, furniture and lighting concepts
– Develop FF&E packages and write furniture and lighting specifications
– Prepare construction documents and technical interior architectural details
– Review contractor questions and submittals to ensure compliance with design solutions
– Supervise the work of junior designers
– Ensure project team members understand their roles with respect to priorities, milestones and deliverables

Qualifications
– Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field
– 8+ years of relevant work experience

– Extensive hands-on experience and understanding of the design and construction of interior
architecture spaces
– Strong programming and conceptualization skills

Qualifications
Critical Skills & Knowledge
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Interior Design from an accredited school
• Minimum 8 years’ experience
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office required
• Strong Revit Skills
• Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Bluebeam, and Smartsheet or Excel
• Knowledge of local and national building codes
• Experience in retail design preferred but not required
