WHO WE ARE

The Northern Pacific Chapter of the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) consists of over 400 members from Alaska, Idaho, Washington, Alberta, and British Columbia.

The IIDA Northern Pacific Chapter seeks to uphold the highest standards for the professional practice of Interior Design in the states of Washington, Idaho and Alaska, as well as British Columbia and Alberta.

With a primary focus on Education, Advocacy and Outreach, the Chapter supports designers at all stages of their careers through scholarships, personal enrichment opportunities, connections to both the local and global design community, and ongoing support for the legal recognition of the commercial interior design profession.

Join our nearly 400 members from Alaska, Idaho, Washington, Alberta, and British Columbia in diverse educational and networking opportunities.  See our volunteers grow into exceptional leaders.  Help us strengthen the design community and further the profession of commercial Interior Design.

2026 Chapter Awards - BARKITECTURE 2025.pptx.jpg

Barkitecture was awarded because it demonstrated exceptional leadership, collaboration, innovation, and community impact. Its grassroots success - organized primarily by two individuals with no initial budget - brought together the interior design, architecture, construction, and broader Treasure Valley communities around a meaningful cause.

It was created with a clear mission: to unify the design and construction community while engaging the public through a shared love for pets. Design teams were invited to create pet-related structures that were displayed and voted on by attendees, with all proceeds split 50/50 between the Consortium for Interior Design – Idaho (a partnership between IIDA Northern Pacific Chapter and ASID Intermountain) and a local animal shelter. The event highlighted creativity, engagement, and purpose while reinforcing the value of interior design beyond traditional project work.

The event attracted more than 825 attendees and raised $10,500, while also creating an effective platform for public education and advocacy about the interior design profession and its role in health, safety, and welfare. Its strong volunteer engagement, strategic community outreach, financial success, charitable impact, and ability to elevate the visibility of the profession made Barkitecture an outstanding example of what an IIDA chapter can accomplish through collaboration and a clear vision.
